Robert Stevenson

Producer, The Front Row

Bob Stevenson is a 32-year veteran public radio producer and programmer. Bob is the Senior Artistic Advisor at Classical 91.7. He advises and assists the station manager with research, writing and analytical support regarding programming policy, procedures and content.

Bob began his career at WGUC (FM) in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the production control room where he progressed from student assistant to production director to program director in a matter of 10 years. During this period and the years immediately following, he created every kind of programming, from spot news, arts features, interviews, events coverage, documentaries and concert broadcasts.

In 1982, Stevenson moved to KQED in San Francisco to serve as the hands-on line producer for CODART, NPR's pilot project for the on-air delivery of subscription audio materials. The following year he returned to full-time studio production and on-air hosting at KCSM in San Mateo. After a four-year sabbatical from radio, Bob served as program director at WUAL-FM, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In 1989, he moved to Houston to bring his talent to KUHF.

In addition to his role at KUHF, Stevenson is active in both the Public Radio Program Directors' Association and the Association of Music Personnel in Public Radio. He was vice president of the latter organization from 1994 to 1997.

In his spare time, Bob devotes much of his time to Houston Revels as a member of the chorus.
