Laura Isensee covers education for KUHF, including K-12 and higher education.
Previously, she was a staff reporter at The Miami Herald and regularly contributed to WLRN, the local NPR affiliate and Miami Herald news partner.
In 2012, Laura won first place in politics reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists’ Green Eyeshade Awards for her work with Miami Herald reporter Jay Weaver on shadow-banking in Miami politics.
Laura grew up in Houston and got her start in journalism in the city, when she reported for a Spanish-language paper and the Houston Chronicle. Her work has also appeared in The Dallas Morning News, Reuters and Clarín, one of Argentina’s major newspapers. Laura studied Spanish and liberal arts at the University of Texas at Austin and earned her masters from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
