Kathy Rogers was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma…a real-life “Okie from Muskogee.” In the early years of her colorful career, Kathy was a model who owned her own modeling studio, and was a Fred Astaire dance instructor before becoming an executive secretary in the Oil and Gas Industry. The Oil Bust of the early 80s led Kathy to take a temp job at the Dallas Business Journal, which eventually led to a permanent, full-time sales position where the model and dance instructor discovered she had a true gift for sales.
Coming to Houston in 1991, Kathy Rogers landed her first radio job at KQUE, where she further honed her sales skills for six years, before arriving at Houston Public Radio as an underwriting account executive in 1998. Shortly into her tenure here, Kathy realized public radio is where she truly belongs. She feels proud and privileged to represent Houston Public Radio, whether working with extraordinary underwriters, working alongside KUHF’s gracious volunteers, or meeting KUHF’s listeners in the community.
