Gone In Seconds: Foley's Downtown History Erased
It only took a few seconds yesterday morning for nearly 70-years of downtown Houston history to crumble into a pile of bricks and a huge cloud of dust. The old Foley's building on Main Street is now a heap of rubble, but there's still hope for other old structures downtown.

Macy's To Relocate To Remain In Downtown Houston
The new year marks a change in downtown department store shopping, as Macy's announced it will close its doors in early spring. It is one of six stores the Cincinnati-based retailer will close this year. While Macy's shops for a new downtown location, preservationists are disappointed the structure will be demolished.

Macy's announced today that it’s closing its store in downtown Houston. After more than 65 years as a department store, the building at the corner of Main and Dallas will be converted to office space. The news of Macy's closure coincides with the mayor's office announcing a new task force to find ways to create, and keep, more retail downtown.
