Alstom (ALO:FP) will supply more than 400 megawatts of wind turbines to be installed at NaturEner’s Wild Rose Projects in Alberta. The project’s worth is estimated at more than half a billion dollars.
The French company will assemble turbine housings for the project at its factory in Amarillo, as well as at its facility in northeastern Spain. Patrick Kron is CEO of Alstom. He says he’s hoping the Amarillo facility will supply more new construction in the US as well.
“In the US, the demand for new built is driven by gas power station and by wind energy, and we will play on these two grounds. We have developed new, efficient, and flexible gas turbines. We have efficient wind turbines available for the North American market, and we’ll play on both.”
Kron says Alstom is already very active in the North American aftermarket, retrofitting aging power plants to comply with stricter environmental regulations.
