We hear concert performances by two of the internationally-renowned classical musicians whom SPA has brought to Houston in past seasons... > click here to listen June Christensen is the Executive Director of Houston’s major presenting organization, Society for the Performing Arts. SPA is one of the nine performing-arts institutions that present their concerts and stage productions in the Bayou City’s central core, and who organize and host the annual Houston Theater District Open House. This year’s event takes place from 12:00PM - 4:00PM on Sunday, August 30th. June chats with St. John Flynn. The line-up of attractions to be presented Friday and Saturday night includes Tetsujin, the dance-film co-created by Fringe Festival founders and curators, Rebecca French and Robert Thoth of FrenetiCore … the Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company production of Janet Thielke’s one-act play, Alice and the Underground, directed by Mark Carrier … and Forever Hold Your Piece (for now), a contemporary dance work choreographed and directed by Rob Davidson of the New York troupe, Kinetic Architecture. The Grand Finale of this year’s Frenetic Fringe Festival, the “Anything Goes Night” and Closing Party, is Sunday evening, beginning at 7:00PM.
