As Station Manager, Debra Fraser oversees the combined cultural programming and news departments, as well as the station's public information, online initiatives and fundraising through corporate support and individual gifts. She has been with KUHF for 22 years.

Debra joined KUHF in 1988 as a reporter and and went on to serve as News Director for 12 years, helping the news department grow into "Houston's intelligent news choice." She is a true believer in the station's mission to serve the community and is committed to expanding and enhancing local programming.

Debra also serves as President of the Houston Press Club. The group raises awareness of the important role of journalists in our community. It also raises money for local journalism scholarships; more than $300,000 to date.

She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she received her B.S. in Radio, Television and Film. Prior to KUHF, Debra was a news reporter and anchor for a station in Georgetown, Texas. She says working in a small community truly puts a reporter in touch with the issues that affect people. She also says every reporter should experience covering a community where the school lunch menu is an important part of the daily radio programming.

Outside of the office, Debra enjoys spending time with her husband, Kevin, and her son, Justin, both are most tolerant of her 24/7 schedule.
