Bauer Business Focus: Wynne Chin

This weekend, Houston hosts the International Conference on Partial Least Squares. The gathering looks at how statistical modeling can aid in fields ranging from financial reporting to medical research. Wynne Chin is an expert on IT adoption at the University of Houston's Bauer College of Business and a program chair for the conference. He joins Andrew Schneider on this week's Bauer Business Focus.

Bauer Business Focus: John Lee

While a lack of jobs is one of the biggest problems weighing down the economy, the oil and gas sector is wrestling with the opposite problem — a lack of skilled workers. John Lee is helping to fill that gap. He's the first tenured faculty member at the University of Houston's petroleum engineering program. Lee joins Andrew Schneider on this week's "Bauer Business Focus."

Bauer Business Focus: Leanne Atwater

METRO and the University of Houston's Bauer College of Business recently developed a nine-month program to train Houston’s next generation of public transit leadership. The first class of twenty-four is about to graduate. Joining Andrew Schneider to discuss the program on this week's Bauer Business Focus is Leanne Atwater, chair of Bauer's Management Department.

Bauer Business Focus: Christopher Ross

The Offshore Technology Conference returns to Reliant Center next week. Joining Andrew Schneider on this week's Bauer Business Focus to talk about the conference is Christopher Ross. Ross teaches finance at the UH Bauer College of Business. He's also a member of the OTC's Program Committee.

Bauer Business Focus: McKenna Jordan

It's been a rough few years for traditional bookstores. Competition from big box chains and Amazon has been fierce. E-book sales are surging. Joining Andrew Schneider on this week's Bauer Business Focus to talk about the outlook for independent booksellers is McKenna Jordan, owner of Houston's Murder By The Book.
