Happy New Year! Acclaimed writer Sara Paretsky stops by with her 14th novel, "Bleeding Kansas." Though renowned for her V.I. Warshawski detective novels, this latest work is set amidst the social & economic issues of the Midwest, where she was raised. We also enjoy past performances by local ensembles, as we anticipate the upcoming concerts of 2008. . .

The Houston Chamber Orchestra offers its anticipated first concert of the season on February 25 at the Hobby Center's Zilkha Hall, which will include Texas composer Charles Fitts' Circus Concerto for Trumpet & Orchestra.  Here is a past HCO World Premiere of Mr. Fitts' Clarinet Concerto.  Artistic Director Michael Lowe conducted, and British clarinetist David Campbell was the soloist.  Recorded by KUHF on February 13, 2006 at Zilkha Hall.  Listen  Download
