TSA Places Houston Airports Under Terrorism Alert

The TSA has warned airports in Houston, San Diego, Milwaukee and Baltimore of the possibility that terrorists might be rehearsing efforts to carry explosives onto airplanes. This comes after TSA inspectors in Houston and those other cities recently found and confiscated things like electrical wires, switches, pipes and tubes, cell phone components and dense clay-like substances, including blocks of cheese.
TSA spokeswoman Carrie Harmon says this is just routine, and air travelers have no reason to be any more worried today than they were yesterday.
"This is part of the overall environment of being alert, and I think the traveling public can feel good that TSA is constantly reviewing intelligence and evaluating it, and conveying pertinent information to our officers and our law enforcement partners."
Harmon says in the past six months alone, TSA has issued nearly a hundred bulletins on a wide range of security issues. Houston Airport System officials declined to comment on the alert. Jim Bell, Houston Public Radio News.
