The Baby Moses law was enacted six years ago , but officials want to make sure the word continues to spread. Houston Fire Department Chief Phil Boriskie says they'll post bright yellow signs near the front of 89 stations.
The law allows mothers to drop off any baby under 60 days old that is unharmed and leave the child with fire station or hospital officials, no questions asked. State Representative Geannie Morrison says there are still people who don't know about the law and the signs will help people easily identify where infants can be taken.
In the past three years, eight infants have been abandoned in the Houston area, five of them under the Baby Moses Law. Three of them were left at fire stations.
