The Harris County Sheriff's Office is pleading with the public to come forward with any tips that might help solve the bizarre slaying of a suburban family in the Cypress area. The parents and two school-age sons were all found shot in their bedrooms on January 30.

The father was an engineer at Cameron, an energy services company.

After he didn’t show up at work, deputies checked the home on Fosters Creek Drive.

The parents and the boys were all found in different bedrooms, dead of gunshot wounds.

They were not tied up.

Sheriff Adrian Garcia says it’s a homicide, but investigators have no idea if it was random or what a motive might be.

“From all indications they were a quiet family, they were the average family.”

The parents are naturalized citizens from China, and a Mandarin speaker at the press conference asked for tips from the Chinese community here.

Garcia says he was personally shocked by the horrific nature of the crime.

“It’s baffling. How anyone has it within them to take the lives of children. I do not understand that as long as I’ve been in this business. As a daddy, it just strikes an incredible nerve in the core of my body.”

The two boys, ages 7 and 9, attended Sampson Elementary in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.

Garcia said investigators are working with the Chinese consulate to locate relatives of the family in China.
