If you're not sure how to set-up your child's car or booster seat in your vehicle, experts will be on hand this weekend to help. A free event in the Galleria area this weekend will take the mystery out of installing children's car seats.

The event is a collaboration between AAA Texas, Texas Children's Hospital, Safe Kids Greater Houston and the DPS. Car seat experts will be on hand at the Houston Community College - West Loop Campus from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Sarah Schimmer is with AAA.

"If you're confused about how to plug that car seat in or want to make sure you're absolutely using that car seat correctly so that your child can get the maximum safety benefit from that car seat. We'll have people there on-site to help install that car seat and teach parents how to do it properly when they leave the site."

Schimmer says most car seats and boosters are installed improperly.

"Basically three out of four car seats are installed incorrectly. So, making sure that your child's seat is installed properly is something that will help give your child the most safety they can receive from that product."

Texas law requires children under 8 years old or under 4-feet-9-inches tall to either be in a car seat or booster seat when in a motor vehicle.

Again, the free event is on Saturday at the Houston Community College West Loop campus from 9 to noon.
