Cazalot has led what is now Marathon Oil for more than thirteen years, starting when it was still part of steel conglomerate USX. The energy interests spun off in 2002, with Cazalot named president and CEO of the then- integrated oil and natural gas company.

“He ran that company. He expanded it abroad. And then in 2011, he oversaw the company splitting those upstream and downstream assets into two separate companies. So really, it was a long tenure, and it was a very transformative tenure in terms of really seeing the company through multiple stages of development.”
Cazalot will step down as president and CEO of Marathon Oil on August 1. He’ll retire as chairman December 31.
