Despite April Slowdown, Houston Auto Sales On Track For Strong Year

Houston auto sales in April were down compared to March but overall sales for the past year performed strongly.

Auto dealers across Greater Houston sold nearly 330,000 cars, trucks and SUVs in the twelve months ending in April. That’s an increase of more than 18% from the year ending in April 2012 — according to TexAuto Facts, published by InfoNation of Sugar Land.

Houston-area dealers sold roughly 28,000 vehicles in April of this year, down 9% from March. InfoNation owner Steve McDowell says March sales were unusually high and that maintaining such a pace in April was unlikely.

Despite the slowdown, April sales were the fifth-highest in the past twelve months. Vehicle sales remain on track with InfoNation’s forecast of 345,000 units for the year.
