Parker spoke at the GHP's annual event at the Hilton Americas Downtown. Like last year, she opened the speech by saying, "I love this city."
She noted that the city continues to be the “job producing capital of the United States and the #1 destination for relocation.
"In the last three years, the Houston region has created more than 250,000 jobs, exported approximately 300 billion in locally produced goods and services, and issued permits for the construction of nearly 74,000 single family homes."
She unveiled two new city programs to continue the growth.
Lift Off Houston is a business plan competition to help people start a new business by using resources available at the Houston Public Library and the city's office of business opportunity.
This is Mayor Annise Parker's fourth State of the City address.
The other program is Tweet My Jobs Houston, a local website and application that matches current job postings with qualified job seekers.
"Right now, you can download Tweet My Jobs Houston on any Apple or Droid platform, and today find more than 150,ooo available jobs in the greater Houston area, that simple. And the best part is, it is absolutely free."
She says while Houston continues to improve in modernizing the infrastructure and improving the quality of life, there is still much to do.
"The state of our city is strong; the state of our future is unlimited. The best will get better, thank you."
