UH Symposium Targets Energy Services Companies Expanding Internationally

Energy services companies that are going global can benefit from today's "New Markets, New Money" symposium at the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston.

It's co-sponsored by UHY Certified Public Accountants, the Haynes and Boone law firm and investment bank Gulfstar Group.  Meril Markley is moderating one of the panels.

"If companies don't understand the lay of the land — the tax system, the local content requirements — in foreign countries, they can end up spending a lot more cash than they anticipated, either coming up with a successful bid or being able to implement the project."

Markley says there are a lot of Houston technology and energy services companies going global very early in their life cycles.

The panels at the International Energy Services Symposium includes speakers who have successfully navigated expansion into foreign markets.
