Thanks to a special license issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the GHP is able to organize an eight-day trip to Havana. The Partnership hopes to immerse travelers in Cuba's vibrant music, art, history and culture. Susan Asimakis says its part of their World Discovery Tours series.
"Well, due to the fact that it's a Greater Houston Partnership member event, you're going to have business people who enjoy taking these types of excursions. Tours are very focused on the cultural side of these wonderful world communities, so that when they return to the United States and they're doing business with people, it really enriches their relationship, their opportunity for business here back in Houston."
Asimakis says members who've traveled there in the past say they were thrilled with the classic cars still on the road, fascinating architecture and splendid colonial cities. They plan to visit Ernest Hemingway's Farm, where the Nobel prize winner lived with his wife for 21 years. The trip is set for May 26th through June 2nd.
