Drafted in the 1st round by Baltimore in 2002, Ed Reed played his entire career with the Ravens, capped off with a Super Bowl win in February.
"Anybody who's a football fan and knows me, know that this is the right place to be. I know what this team has. I know what this organization has, and like I said I know what I'm coming into. There's a goal that's been set from top to bottom, and I come in just for that."
When General Manager Rick Smith introduced the newest Texans safety, he listed some of his accompolishments:
"Nine interceptions in 15 playoff games, most among active players and tied for most all-time. The best interception return average in NFL history. To say that we have added a player that can impact the game is an understatement."
Team owner Bob McNair, who signed Reed to a reported 3 year, $15 million
contract, says he adds a new dimension to the position:

"We've had some great DBs that are really strong hitters. We haven't had that guy that's our centerfielder though, that can cover all the ground and go after the ball. Ed Reed does that."
Reaction from fans who were shopping at the Texans store at Reliant Stadium:
"Even if he doesn't do anything on the field, he's still gonna bring the experience needed in the playoffs."
"I think he'll work well with the players that we already have."
"He's a good pick. We definitely need some support on the defensive side."
"That's great! That's awesome! We can go somewhere this year."
Reed will wear number 20 for the Texans.
