Associate director Melissa Wegner chats about this year’s Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. The Houston-Area District round of the competition takes place at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. Plus: We hear Houston Grand Opera Studio soprano Lauren Snouffer singing “Fire’s Aria” from Maurice Ravel’s one-act opera L’Enfant et les sortilèges – The Child and the Spells. Snouffer performed the piece back in March at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City, as she competed in the Grand Finals Round.
