Motorists who travel the Katy Freeway near Washington Avenue will have to alter their driving habits for the next month. TxDOT will be closing an inside lane starting this weekend.

It's about a month long closure that affects one inside lane on I-10 West. TxDOT's Deidrea Samuels explains:

"Crews are going to construct a sign column that will display freeway signage, and that's going to close one inside main lane on I-10 westbound, from TC Jester to Washington. They're going to start that tomorrow, Saturday at 6 a.m., and it will be closed until Saturday, December 15."

With one lane closed, Samuels says they don't anticipate a major disruption for motorists during that time:

"TC Jester and Washington, it's just one exit up, so it's literally one street over. We do have a few other closures that are going on in that area. Crews are also going to close two inside main lanes, I-10 eastbound, from 610 West Loop to TC Jester. We're actually going to close TC Jester completely at the intersection of I-10 this weekend as well."

Crews will use that time to do some bridge and pavement repair at that intersection. The I-10 project has been underway for about a year.
