Houston Gas Prices Peak And Drop

Average retail gasoline prices in Houston fall more than .04¢ per gallon the past week, for an average $3.81 cents. This compares with the national average of $3.85 cents a gallon.

The drop in Houston gasoline prices could be the start of a trend that will put a smile on the face of motorists.

Patrick DeHaan is senior petroleum analyst with Gas Buddy.com. He says we haven't really seen substantial decreases for quite some time:

"That's right. Absolutely, gas prices will likely continue falling. The rate of the of the fall will be maybe slower than what we may be used to, but for the time being, it does appear that prices will continue to moderate. And we're still a month away from Memorial Day, so that certainly could be good news just ahead  of Memorial Day Weekend."

He adds refinery maintenance is still ongoing , but gas prices may have already peaked. Prices in Houston are more than a penny per gallon less than last month, and almost 5¢ lower than this time last year.
