Houstonians Gobble Up the New iPad

Each time a customer entered the Apple Store in Highland Village, about ten or so employees lined up at the door would cheer. This morning the cheering was almost constant, as people like Steve Brown showed up to get the latest iPad before they were all gone. The funny thing is, Brown already has more than one iPad.
Brown: "It's more than my second but yes, I have each generation."
Stamps: "What did you do with the others?"
Brown: "I still have them. I may give them away or so, I haven't decided yet."
Brown says he wanted the new version because of the sharper screen.
"I do a lot of reading of books on it. I read the news on it, and the high resolution display makes a world of a difference."
Bobby Gershenwald is a New York resident who's in Houston visiting her grandchildren. She also already had an iPad but decided to get another one.
Gershenwald: "I did, I bought a new iPad 3."
Gershenwald: "Why? Because I had an IPad 1 and it was time. It was my sister's birthday present to me, and now this is my birthday present to me."
The iPad cost about $500 dollars. And while it may be the most expensive tablet, it is also the most popular. Apple has sold more than 55 million of them since they were first introduced in 2010.
Bellaire resident Michelle Quincy waited until midmorning to head to the Apple Store, hoping to avoid the crowd.
"I expected it to be a madhouse. I expected cars everywhere and not being able to get in. Do you know if they're sold out or not?"
It wasn't a mad house, but there were plenty of people leaving with one of the devices. Quincy says she'll use hers right away.
"Right now, I moved our computer into his area of the house, and I hate having to go in there to browse, so I just want to be in my room and just, because all I'm going to be doing is browsing, so I'm excited to finally get it."
