Stanford Sentencing at Least Two Months Away

In KUHF Business News, the Ponzi scheme trial of R. Allen Stanford has ended with a guilty verdict on all but one of the fourteen counts against the Houston financier.

Stanford's trial lasted just over six weeks. It'll take a bit longer before the court rules on his ultimate fate. Robert Scardino is Stanford's lead defense counsel.

"The process is that we have fourteen days to file a notice, motion for a new trial with the court. And then after the judge rules on that, there'll be a sentencing probably in the next two to four months. And then we have ten days after sentencing to give notice of appeal."

The Stanford jury has yet to be released. It's now hearing a civil matter, relating to the forfeiture of some $300 million in scattered Stanford bank accounts.
