After a disappointing loss over the weekend, the University of Houston Cougars are starting preparations for a bowl game in Dallas.

The Cougars dropped a chance to go to the Sugar Bowl after a loss to Southern Mississippi on Saturday in the Conference USA Championship game. Instead, they'll head to Dallas January 2nd for the Ticket City Bowl against Penn State.

Both the Cougars and Nittany Lions are ranked in the top 20 and will play at the historic Cotton Bowl.

Tom Starr is the President of the Ticket City Bowl and says he's excited about having the University of Houston and its fans at the game.

"I had Houston when I was the director over in Fort Worth at the Armed Forces Bowl and they traveled extremely well and of course there's a good alumni base here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area so I expect to see a lot of red at the game."

The Ticket City Bowl is virtually brand-new, with its inaugural game this past January.

"The whole purpose of starting the game was because of course the Cotton Bowl Classic moved over to Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington and we just felt it was a shame that Cotton Bowl Stadium after all those years didn't have a bowl game, so I got with some of the city leaders and decided to start one."

The game will be televised on ESPNU, with an 11 a.m. kick-off. You can find ticket information on the University of Houston athletics website.
