Winter Wonderland In Spring

Friday kicks off Old Town Spring's 31st annual Home for the Holidays.

There’s a famous song that talks about going "over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house" for the holidays. If you’re looking for a Christmas atmosphere there’s a simpler way — just jump on I-45 and head  to Old Town Spring for the annual holiday festival.

Organizer Kathy Moore says there’s something there for everyone.

"The carriage rides are complimentary. The petting zoo which has exotic animals, they’ve even got a miniature buffalo and a little yak out there. We’ll have photo opportunities with Santa and his wife as well as a Texas longhorn dressed up as a reindeer."

Moore says everywhere you  go in old town there is a dazzling display of lights. And this weekend she says most of the stores are having specials and discounts for shoppers.

But if you’re just looking for something to do with the kids — Moore says this is the place to be.

"With the train rides and the pony rides and the petting zoo, yeah, great place to bring the kids."

All events including live music are free to the public. Hours are 6pm to 10pm Friday until Christmas Eve.
