Hundreds of protestors met at Market Square Park on Milan after 4pm. Following a rally that included several speeches, the crowd then made its way down Travis Street towards the I-45 bridge over White Oak Bayou, and stopped near the Spaghetti Warehouse. It was then that some of the protestors sat down in the middle of the intersection with their arms linked. Houston Police officers, including several on horseback, surrounded them and ordered them to move. When they refused, they were arrested without incident. Each prostestor was handcuffed and loaded into a police van. In all, 13 protestors were taken into custody and charged with blocking an intersection. All those arrested were taken to the Harris County Jail for arraignment on the misdemeanor charges. The rest of the crowd dispersed. Before the march, some members of Occupy Houston had alerted the media that they were going to try to get arrested. Last week, 7 people were arrested in Tranquility Park, after protestors placed a tarp over electrical equipment during a rainstorm. City officials considered the tarp a tent, which is banned in the park.
