Houston Gas Prices Decline, Still Higher Than Last Year

The price in Houston compares with the national average of $3.46 a gallon. Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy.com, says the drop came despite crude oil prices hitting $95 a barrel, the highest since late August.
"Certainly seeing things moving in the opposite direction. Crude oil prices moving higher. Gasoline prices at least last week, moved a little bit lower, but I do expect that we may see a reversal in the drop in gas prices and we may see gas prices go up this week. But that's certainly not an overwhelming likelihood. We'll have to see."
Houston's prices were 4¢ under the state average, but 3¢ higher than last month. At this time last year, Houston motorists were paying 62¢ less for a gallon of regular.
