Shining A Light On Women's Safety

Crime Stoppers is participating in a safety seminar, which includes a self defense class for homeless women.

Katherine Cabaniss with Crime Stoppers says they are often targeted by criminal activity:

"In the past year or so, there have been some very violent crimes in which women were victimized. We wanted to take this opportunity to do a safety seminar, so that that vulnerable population can know how to protect themselves."

In addition to self defense techniques, participants will also be given flashlights and whistles to help keep them safe. The program will take place at 9:30 tomorrow morning at The Beacon, across the street from Christ Church Cathedral downtown.
