The Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau is sponsoring Wednesday’s rallies, which will take place from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at the Galleria and Minute Maid Park.
Regina Drake is the bureau’s membership director.
“We consider these transportation persons our travel ambassadors. They are usually the first point of contact that visitors have with any Houstonians, and they’re pivotal to the success of a visitor’s experience.”
The rallies aim to provide taxi drivers with details not only about the Offshore Technology Conference schedule, but also about entertainment venues, restaurants, museums and shopping. To lure drivers, the bureau is offering prizes such as tickets to Astros games and Macy’s gift cards.
The OTC is the largest tradeshow Houston will host all year. With upwards of 75,000 people about to descend on the city, and $75 million in potential revenue at stake, the bureau is determined to keep drivers fully engaged.
