Keep Houston Beautiful Cleanup Underway

Volunteers were out today along Washington Avenue planting trees and they were also working a block north of Washington at Silver and Center.
"We're cleaning up this empty lot that tends to collect quite a bit of refuse and things get dumped there."
Margaret Robinson is with Asakura Robinson, a landscape architecture and urbaning planning g company that's one of the many supporters of Keep Houston Beautiful. A cleanup is also in store for Allen's Landing and any number of other places for the next two months, such as Acres Homes this week-end.
"On Ferguson Drive there's a big cleanup and planting, we're going to plant about 45 trees, plant some butterfly iris, also clean-up some big median areas."
Robinson says kids at Piney Point Elementary School will also be getting a nature play area.
"Which is a neat concept for kids where you create playgrounds, but you don't use the typical equipment, you use natural materials in an imaginative way."
