Nicole Casarez is one of three attorneys working to get compensation for wrongly-convicted ex-prisoner Anthony Graves. Graves spent nearly two decades behind bars for six murders in 1992 that, it was later determined, he did not commit. But a glitch with the paperwork is keeping him from being compensated under state law. Casarez, who, in addition to being an attorney, also teaches media law at University of St. Thomas in Houston, sat down with David Pitman to review the problems keeping Graves from being compensated, what his attorneys are doing to solve the problem, how Graves is moving on with his life, and what should change to keep this from happening to someone else.
