Governor Rick Perry came to Houston yesterday to talk about small business and fiscal challenges. Andrew Schneider has the story.

Governor Perry spoke at Ohls Maintenance Supply, a cleaning equipment and supplies firm in West Houston.
Perry spoke on the importance of small businesses like Ohls as a driver of economic growth. Much of the speech came back to the looming battle over how to close the state’s budget gap.
“We’re finding new ways to tighten our belts, separating those wants from needs, making responsible decisions to live within our means. We have an obligation to the taxpayers in the state to take those same kinds of steps that you all are making in your personal lives and in your small businesses. Making government more efficient, streamlined, cutting spending, without raising taxes. That’s our chore, and that’s our goal.”
Perry also urged legislators to make permanent the small business tax cut passed last session.
