Much of those business ties focus on the oil and petrochemical industries. But the Netherlands aims to broaden its investment in Texas. Dutch Ambassador Renée Jones-Bos.

“We think that there are even more opportunities, particularly in Houston, for the Dutch business community. We have a very active honorary consul, but we thought we thought we could do with some extra support there, some extra people, and that is why we are opening the business support office. And the idea is that we will focus that office on water management, renewable energy and the computer gaming industry.”

Texas exported $6.1 billion worth of goods to the Netherlands in 2009, the most recent year on record. That makes the Netherlands Texas’ 4th largest export market.
