UH Finalizes Purchase of New Radio Station

It's official. The University of Houston has finalized its purchase of the broadcast frequency and license currently used by Rice University Station KTRU. Capella Tucker reports.
The University of Houston had already authorized the purchase earlier this year, but now the documents have been signed that will transfer ownership of the 91.7 frequency from Rice University to U of H.

Pending FCC approval, the station, to be re-named KUHC, will become an outlet for 24-hour classical music programming, while KUHF becomes an all-news and information station.

The asset purchase agreement will be filed with the FCC, which could approve the transaction as early as the first of the year.

KTRU will continue to offer programming via the internet.
