Michael Guettler is Permanent Guest Conductor of Russias premiere opera house, the Mariinsky Theatre. He talks about conducting this summer's final orchestral concert at Round Top, Texas. We also hear Festival-Institute founder and director, James Dick, playing a movement from Frederic Chopin's Piano Concerto No.1, a performance he'll repeat on Saturday night, in concert, with the Texas Festival Orchestra
The concert is this Saturday evening at 8:00PM. The Festival-Institute’s schedule is packed full of additional performances during its final days. The Young Artist-Participants present chamber-music recitals Friday night at 8:00PM in the Festival Concert Hall. The annual Percussion Showcase is set for Saturday afternoon at 1:30PM. And Faculty and Young Artists sit down together to perform Richard Strauss’s Serenade for Wind Instruments and Quartets for Piano and Strings by Robert Schumann in the closing Chamber-Music Program, Saturday afternoon at 3:30PM.
