Victim Leesa NascimentoOn July 7th, 49-year-old Leesa Nascimento was reported missing by family members when she didn't show up for work. Her body was found two days later not far from her florist shop. Fort Bend County Chief Deputy Craig Brady says she was killed by a gunshot.

"Sugar Land police were called to a small body of water located near the intersection of U.S. 59 and Sugar Creek Blvd. They retrieved the body of a white female who was subsequently identified through autopsy as our missing person."

Police identified Lorenza Sam as a suspect and soon located the victim's missing car in a remote area of Louisiana, within a mile of Sam's girlfriend's house.

"He had been fired by her fairly recently. Evidently she believed he was stealing items from her shop and her home — he had access to her home at various different times. Right after the homicide, he went to Louisiana and then to Mississippi and he obtained a job in Mississippi relatively quickly as a cook's assistant on a barge."

Sam is being held in Pascagoula, Miss. with bail set at $1 million. He will eventually be extradited to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office where he is charged with murder.
