Marcus Karl Maroney, a member of the faculty of the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, is one of the five composers who direct the contemporary ensemble, Musiqa. He is joined in KUHF's Geary Performance Studio by percussionist-perfomers Blake Wilkins, Director of Percussion Studies at the U-of-H … Alex Warren who also teaches at the Moores School, as well as at North Harris and San Jacinto Colleges … and Craig Hauschildt, a professor at Texas A&M University. Musiqa concludes its 2009-2010 performance season with the last of this year’s Loft Concerts at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. The program of percussion pieces by Iannis Xenakis, Vinko Globokar, Steve Reich and Marcus Karl Maroney is presented in conjunction with the CAMH’s new exhibition, Hand Plus Made: The Performative Impulse in Art and Craft. It takes place Thursday evening at 6:30PM in the Museum’s main gallery. Listen Download
