Early Voting Begins For Primary Runoff

Early voting is underway for the April 13th runoff election to settle the races that weren't decided in the March 2nd primary. David Pitman has more.

Voters have from 7 in the morning until 7 in the evening, through Friday, to cast their ballots.  This early voting period is unusual in that it does "not" include a weekend.

There are 37 early voting locations in Harris County.  But Hector de Leon with the County Clerk's Office says that number could be smaller when the actual runoff happens next Tuesday.

"Runoff elections tend to have a reduced number of voters.  For that reason, the polls are reduced on Election Day.  So, if you can, go vote now."

de Leon says people who voted in the March 2nd primary will have to vote for the same party in the runoff.   The runoff ballot will have up to 15 races, depending on party.

The one question David hears most often isn't "What is it like to work for an NPR member station?" or "Have you ever met Terry Gross?" (he has)...
