Emelyne Bingham is Assistant Conductor of the Nashville Symphony and Senior Lecturer at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music. She's also the Artistic Director of the Young Texas Artists Music Competition. New-Zealand-born violinist, Natalie Lin, a former student at the University of Houston now doing graduate work at the Cleveland Institute of Music in Ohio, won the Strings Division First Prize and the Audience Choice Award in last year's contest. KUHF's Chris Johnson emcees the finals-round concert that will determine the winners of the 26th  annual Y-T-A Music Competition tomorrow evening at the Crighton Theatre in downtown Conroe, Texas. concludes its 2009-2010 concert series with a recital by the Duo Melis  - classical guitarists Susana Prieto and Alexis Muzurakis - tomorrow night at 8:00PM at Emerson Unitarian-Universalist Church on Bering Drive. Duo Melis join KUHF's St. John Flynn in the Geary Performance Studio for a preview session.  Listen Download

KUHF's Catherine Lu spoke with composer-director, Kanniks Kannikeswaran and Eric Esparza, the director of Houston's United Nations International Choir. The Choir will be joined by eighty additional singers from the Bayou City's Indian community … a Western-style chamber orchestra … an ensemble of Indian instrumentalists … and Indian classical and folk dancers … to perform Mister Kannikeswaran's multi-disciplinary choral symphony of diversity, harmony, interconnectedness and joy, Shanti – A Journey of Peace. There are two performances: tomorrow at 5:30PM and again at 8:30PM in Cullen Performance Hall on the central campus of the University of Houston.
