Harris County Constables To Begin Warrant Round-Up

The Harris County District Attorney's Office says there are about $60 million worth of unpaid fines in its Justice Courts system. That represents more than 200,000 outstanding warrants. And that's not including the 54,000 warrants for people who've failed to pay court costs and other fines for convinctions in non-felony cases that have already been settled.
People who've ignored or otherwise put off taking care of those fines have one last chance to set things straight.
A dozen Harris County Justice Courts will open early Saturday morning to give people the opportunity to settle their accounts before constables begin their warrant round-up.
The courts will accept cash, cashier's check, money order, or credit cards.
Harris County is joining the City of Houston, which recently announced its participation in what's called the "2010 Great Texas Warrant Round-Up." The round up runs through March 15th.
