Officials with the Texas Medical Center and the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston have started discussions on how the relationship would work. In tough economic times, a partnership obviously makes sense, but President and CEO Dr. Richard Wainerdi says it's about more than just economics.
"What you have is two extraordinary resources that are community resources that are looking for ways to be of greater value to the community by collaborating."
Wainerdi wouldn't say specifically how the collaboration would work but expects the talks to continue.
