Today, resident actor Jeffrey Bean -- who plays “Ebenezer Scrooge” -- tells us what’s different about this year’s Alley Theatre production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. And, we have live performances by classical guitarist Valerie Hartzell and jazz guitarist Mike Wheeler, who preview the First Annual Katy Guitar Fest, taking place tomorrow at Westland Baptist Church...
Jeffrey Bean delivers the immortal words, “Bah, humbug!” as the old skinflint, Ebenezer Scrooge … in the Alley Theatre’s stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. There are evening performances, Thursdays through Sundays … and Saturday and Sunday afternoon matinees … through December 27th. Tomorrow from 10:00AM until 8:00PM, the Cinco Ranch Conservatory of Music presents the first annual Katy Guitar Fest. There will be performances every hour on the hour on the Festival’s two stages, featuring some of the region’s top guitarists, including our guests, jazz guitarist, Mike Wheeler, Affiliate Artist of the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music … and Valerie Hartzell, founder and director of both the Greater Houston Guitar Guild and the annual “Classical Minds” summer guitar festival at the U-of-H. They will play on Stage One at 12:00 Noon and One O’Clock P-M, respectively. Hartzell and Wheeler preview their performances in the Geary Performance Studio in a session hosted by Bob Stevenson.
