Today, two different styles of music in performances direct from KUHF's George Geary Studio! Austin's Golden Arm Trio plays excerpts from its original score for the 1929 silent film, Pandora's Box, which KUHF will screen tonight, with live accompaniment provided by the Trio, at Discovery Green. And, singers from Houston Ebony Opera treat us to spirituals, songs and arias that the company will present on its 2009 Opera Gems Concert: A Celebration of Greatness in Music and Social Change, Sunday at the Hobby Center...
KUHF's Silent Film Concert Series presents a free screening of G. W. Pabst's 1929 classic morality tale, Pandora's Box, starring American actress, Louise Brooks. Austin's Golden Arm Trio will accompany the film with a live performance of their original score created especially for the movie. Show time is 7:00PM this evening at Discovery Green Park. Houston Ebony Opera presents its 2009 Opera Gems Concert: A Celebration of Greatness in Music and Social Change. It's a program of songs, arias, spirituals and choruses associated with legendary African-Americans who were not only outstanding musicians, but who also made significant contributions to the nation's fight for racial equality. The single performance takes place Sunday afternoon at 4:00PM in Zilkha Hall at downtown Houston's Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
