Dancer-choreographer Dominic Walsh previews 1909 to 2009: The Great Collaborators of the Ballet Russes, a program with which his company celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the world's most influential dance company of the early 20th Century … but which features a Twenty-First Century take on classics from that era. Then cast members from the Texas Repertory Theatre Company perform some of the catchy, off-the-wall songs from their new production of Little Shop of Horrors...
KUHF's  Catherine Lu speaks with violinist Peter Winograd of the American String Quartet, long-time Ensemble-in-Residence at both the Aspen Music Festival and the Manhattan School of Music. The Houston Friends of Music and the Shepherd School of Music present the American String Quartet in recital, tonight at 8:00PM in Rice University's Stude Concert Hall. The Quartet plays pieces by Haydn and Prokofiev, and then they are joined by Menahem Pressler, the pianist of the Beaux Arts Trio, in the Second of the two Piano Quintets by Antonín Dvorák. Dominic Walsh Dance Theater presents 1909 to 2009: The Great Collaborators of the Ballets Russes … their twenty-first-century re-working of some of the classic pieces from the repertoire of Sergei Diaghilev's pioneering early 20th Century Paris-based dance troupe, the Ballets Russes. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at 8:00PM in Zilkha Hall at downtown Houston's Hobby Center. TFR St. John Flynn chats with dominic about the program. Listen Download

The Texas Repertory Theatre company presents its new production of the hit off-Broadway musical comedy, Little Shop of Horrors, with songs in the style of 50's rock-and-roll by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman … and new puppets of Audrey Two, the alien plant that thrives on human blood, built just for this production. There are evening performances Thursdays through Saturdays … and 3:00PM Sunday afternoon matinees through October 31st.
