So far FEMA has helped TSU with 72 projects totaling $16-million.
"The most recent was $1.7-million for the technology building."
FEMA's Patricia Brach says the agency is reimbursing 90% of the $1.9-million cost of repairs to the interior of the building. She says the money comes from FEMA's Public Assistance program and doesn't go directly to TSU.
"All the funds are given to the state and then the state manages those funds."
State authorities make distributions of Public Assistance funds to local jurisdictions and organizations that incurred costs in recovering from disasters.
In the year since Ike, FEMA has sent Texas $1.4-billion through its Public Assistance program. Total FEMA assistance to Texas due to Ike recovery tops $2.5-billion.
