Today, it is our honor to present one of Iran's most respected – and controversial -- artists. Poet, singer and composer, Parvaz Homay, and his Mastan Ensemble join us in KUHF's George Geary Studio to perform some of Homay's original songs of the spirit and of the people that have gotten him in trouble with Islamic authorities back home in Iran...
Tonight at 8:00PM, at Discovery Green Park in downtown Houston, KUHF/Houston Public Radio presents the first program of its 2009-2010 Silent Film Concert Series: a screening of Buster Keaton's 1926 comedy classic, The General. Our guest -- composer, drummer and keyboard-player Graham Reynolds and his Golden Arm Trio from Austin -- will accompany the showing with a live performance of Mister Reynolds' original score, created expressly for the movie. Admission is free. Iranian poet, composer, singer and activist for the political and spiritual freedom of the people of Iran, Parvaz Homay speaks with TFR Producer, Bob Stevenson, with Doctor Max Jameson, Secretary of the Iranian Cultural Foundation of Houston, acting as interpreter. The Foundation presents Homay and the Mastan Ensemble in concert, tonight at 9:00PM in the Performing Arts Theater at the Stafford Centre.  Listen  Download  Extended Interview
