KUHF's Catherine Lu speaks with Andrea Cody, Executive Director of Dance Houston, the organization which each year produces and presents the City-Wide Dance Festival, the 8th annual edition of which is set for this Saturday night at 8:00PM in the Cullen Theater of downtown Houston's Wortham Center. A dozen different dance styles and traditions will be performed by as many companies, including the Dominic Walsh Dance Theater, Dance of Asian America, Urban Souls Dance Company and Luna Tango Productions, directed by our other guest, dancer-choreographer, Susana Collins. KUHF's Chris Johnson speaks with teen-aged siblings Dianna and Stephen Muldrow, who, with their sister, Melanie, conceived and organized this weekend's Broken Cords benefit concert to raise awareness about the international crimes of human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Pianist Andrew Staupe is a Doctoral Student of Jon Kimura Parker at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, and one of several world-class musicians who will perform at the event, which takes place Saturday evening at 7:00PM in downtown Houston's Jones Hall. Proceeds from tickets sales will be donated to the Coalition Against Human Trafficking, the International Justice Mission and the Houston Rescue and Restore Coalition. Listen Download

Rodi Franco is Director of Marketing and Communications and Mark Bly is the Senior Dramaturg at the Alley Theatre, one of the nine major performing-arts organizations that plan and host the annual Theater District Open House, the event that officially marks the end of summer and the beginning of the new performance season in downtown Houston. This year's edition takes place this Sunday from 12:00-4:00PM at the Alley, the Wortham and Hobby Centers and at Jones Hall. Admission is free.
