La Porte Looks for Main Street Stories

The Main Street Program is designed to preserve the historical integrity of small cities and towns. One of the ways La Porte is doing that is put together a video podcast to air on You Tube later this year. Stacey Osborne is La Porte's Main Street Coordinator.
"We have a lot of stories that are written down and we have photographs, but we don't have a lot of people on video telling their stories of the early days."
Osborne says she's particularly interested in pre-1950's stories connected to Main Street. Stories might be about buildings, people, events or landmarks. The best 12 stories will then be video taped for the podcast.
"The other part will be a short video montage that we're going to show at the Fall Back Festival in October, it's October 10th."
A print version with photographs will also be produced.
"We really want to hear especially from some of the older citizens, so if your grandmothers or grandfathers or neighbors have stories to tell please tell them to contact us."
You can do that by calling La Porte City Hall or online at laporte-tx-dot-gov.
