The program is called "Good Fences Make Good Neighbors". The materials and the labor are free for those who qualify.
"People who are 65-years or older, those who are disabled, those who have no means or no way of repairing their fences."
Richard Scott is Pasadena's Director of Community Relations. He says principle support comes from Chevron-Phillips, Zachry Construction and Dow Fence Company, and that volunteers come from those companies many city and neighborhood organizations.
"We've had as many as 50 volunteers out on the project, and it's usually a two day project. Usually we start building on Friday and finish up on Saturday."
The average price of materials and labor for each project is about 5-thousand-dollars. It is such a big event that they've been doing them every few months. There are at least three more on the schedule. Scott says to apply just call Pasadena City Hall.
